History

1947

Dr. Pascual started the business founding a clinic of 8 beds that over the years and due to constant policies of reinvestment of benefits turned into a modern hospital of 450 beds, provided with latest technology and high level staff. San Rafael Hospital is the origin of the company and is at the present the biggest private health entity of Andalusia.

1973

Between 1973 and 1977 SRH faced a great challenge, from the point of view of the quality health care. During those 5 years it became the hospital headquarters of the whole province while cutting down the old Zamacola Hospital and building the new Puerta del Mar Hospital. SRH offered a first rate service to the province which then had only another hospital, still without reforming in Jerez.

1980

Dr. José Manuel Pascual Sánchez-Gijón is in charge of the company.

1986

Due to the evaluation of future trend and going ahead of the increasing participation of private sector on health management the company took the important decision to extend and develop its presence in the Sector, which made an important qualitative jump, in both its philosophy and its managerial structure. For that reason it acquired the hospital in the port of Santa Maria with 250 beds that was closed and out of business at that time and since then has assisted in a large number of patients keeping a high occupancy rates.

1989

Once they consolidated the previous investment and clearly defined the vocation and the future of the society, they decided to invest in other provinces Andalusian transferring the scheme of company previously developed in Cadiz. Thus, this year they bought and opened Hospital Blanca Paloma in Huelva, center of recent construction that - practically - had not been put into operation by its previous owner. It’s equipped with 200 beds with the equipment to enable it to offer a high quality of care. Through the clear presence of effective management and quality of services, the hospital could achieve a fast development of this new installation, establishing, at the same time, another strategic note of the society: the expansion of the company towards the Community of Andalusia.

1990-2000

After the full consolidation of these projects with a major clarity in the sector, and following the three basic points of our enterprise strategy: reinvestment of benefits, effective management and healthcare quality, was considered advisable at the beginning of the decade of the 90 to endow the company with new strategies and projects the company keep on the same business outlined with 3 main points: Benefits reinvestment, efficient managing and quality medical care. At the early 90’s the company granted itself with new strategies and projects. One of the new projects took place in Málaga (County town at the Costa del Sol) in 1992. Dr. Pascual’s Hospital was opened in 1994, rising to what in his days was an obsolete military hospital. This Hospital was designed and built by the company and has in its architectural setting a cloister of the XVI century of great cultural value that contributes to a singular beauty. The modern, spacious building on three levels with its facilities offers efficiency and quality. The cloister has been declared Cultural Interest Goods by the Government of Andalusia.

The hospital has 200 beds and his principal aim is to develop an intense medical and surgical activity. From the first moment he has enjoyed a favourable welcome so much on the part of the sanitary authorities as the public in general, which has made possible his full incorporation in the province.

The evolution of the social demand in the difference regions of Andalusia envisage us to go back to Cadiz and set the construction of two new hospitals, Virgen de las Montañas located in Villamartin in the Sierra of Cadiz and Virgen del Camino in Sanlucar of Barrameda situated on the coastal area. The Virgen de las Montañas hospital was inaugurated in 1996 whereas the Virgen del Camino hospital opens its doors in May 1997. Both centers have 110 beds, and grow in the trend of the Regional hospital with a large numbers of patients as well as a strong ambulatory activity.

Both hospitals were built by the company, bringing in addition an innovative design fruit of his wide experience in the health care management. The main features of this design are: functionality, economy and increased capacity. The economic and social success of these hospitals was for us a great step forward. (Just three years after the opening of Dr. Pascual Hospital in Malaga).

2010

Nowadays our company is in lead position in the national sector in the private health care. From 8 beds with which our founder began his activity, we have at the moment 1300 beds that are enlarge in 80.000m2. All that is the fruit of a complex and important business process, whose latest achievement so far is to obtain the award of the health care Advanced Quality of the health care Andalusian for all our Hospitals in 2010.
